Danelle Round, 39, was arraigned Tuesday in 86th District Court in Traverse City, and is scheduled to return to court Jan. 26. The Traverse City Record-Eagle reported she is charged with abandoning or being cruel to animals.

Authorities said two malnourished horses had to be euthanized after police and a veterinarian inspected Round’s property in Grand Traverse County’s Fife Lake Township, and five others were taken away to receive care.

Investigators went to the property, about 18 miles southeast of Traverse City, following a complaint from a neighbor.
