Sgt. Brent Converse of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department said Narzisa Moralez, 80, was traveling south on Briarwood Drive near Brookdale Drive in Holland Township at about 4:35 p.m., and failed to negotiate a turn in the road. This caused Moralez to leave the roadway, strike a fence and then a utility pole.

Converse said the utility pole broke, cutting power in the surrounding neighborhood.

Moralez, who was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, was taken to Holland Hospital for treatment of her injuries, police said.

Converse said the incident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Department.
