The crash occurred shortly after 8 a.m. Police were diverting traffic on northbound U.S. 31 at VanBuren Street.

A 30-year-old Muskegon man was driving north on U.S. 31 when he failed to stop at the intersection with Port Sheldon, hitting the truck. The Muskegon man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The semi had come to a complete stop for red traffic signal," said Sgt. Steve Austin with the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department. "Witnesses indicate that a second vehicle traveling northbound failed to stop and rear-ended the back of the semi. The driver was ultimately pinned underneath the vehicle."
