Police said Anthony John Doremire, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene after being extricated from his crushed car by Olive Township firefighters.

According to witness accounts and a preliminary investigation, Sgt. Steve Austin of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department said Doremire’s 2007 Honda Accord never braked or even slowed down when the car hit the truck at full highway speed. The northbound truck had stopped for a red light at Port Sheldon Street around 8 a.m.

Austin said the truck driver and a passenger in his cab were not injured.

The crash remains under investigation, Austin said.
