The Battle Creek Enquirer reported 18-year-old Dillon Eaton of the Calhoun County community of Tekonsha was arrested Tuesday along with another man.

Eaton is charged with arson and conspiracy to commit arson in fires the mornings of Jan. 26 and 28. No injuries were reported.

Defense lawyer Jason Hagelthorn said important facts have yet to emerge in the case and people should withhold judgment on Eaton until there’s a verdict.

Eaton became a probationary member of the Tekonsha Township Fire Department in November 2011. Chief William Burchfield said Eaton could answer calls but not fight fires.

The charges carry a maximum 20-year sentence.
