At approximately 3 a.m., an officer from Muskegon Heights Police Department observed a pickup truck traveling north in the 2300 block of South Getty Street. The pickup truck, driven by a 30-year-old Muskegon man, was pulling a John Deere lawn tractor behind it. A 40-year old Muskegon Heights man was riding the tractor.

When the officer made contact with the subjects, the officer also discovered a new generator in the back of the pickup. Price tags and literature for these items were also discovered.

Follow-up investigation by state police troopers and officers from Fruitport Township Police Department confirmed these items had been stolen from the Lowe’s store on Sherman Boulevard. The items had been displayed in front of the building and secured with locked heavy-duty security cables. A cut padlock was discovered at the scene.

The two male subjects were arrested and lodged at the Muskegon County Jail. Their names are not being released, pending arraignment.
