Snowfall storm totals include 12 inches at Clare in Harrison County as of 8:30 a.m. and 10 inches near Evart in Osceola County as of 8 a.m. A total of 6 inches was reported this morning about 4 miles north of Holland in Ottawa County, in East Grand Rapids in Kent County and Hesperia in Newaygo County.

The banded nature of the snow will result in highly variable visibilities and storm total accumulations. Winds will gust to 25 mph from the northwest toward late morning.

The National Weather Service said another 2-4 inches is expected before the snow diminishes this afternoon.

Impacts:

— Roads are snow-covered and slippery.

— Some localized power outages are possible due the heavy wet snow and some gusty winds.

— The Michigan Department of Transportation reminds motorists to adjust speeds based on the conditions, and to take it slow in ice and snow.

— While schools in Northwest Ottawa County are open today, many other districts east and south of the Grand Haven area — including West Ottawa, Zeeland and Holland schools — are closed today.
