The Traverse City Record-Eagle reported that the payments by Joseph Maloof, 66, follow his guilty plea to attempted embezzlement from a nonprofit or charity. Benzie County Circuit Judge James Batzer this week ordered the payments.

Authorities reported in September 2011 that about $60,000 was missing from the 400-member club. Charges were filed against Maloof after the group conducted an audit.

The club is located about 10 miles southwest of Traverse City. It annually organizes and hosts a number of local events and fundraisers.
