Ty Clover, 8, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken by ambulance to North Ottawa Community Hospital, according to Sgt. John Ditmar of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department. A hospital spokesperson said he was treated and released on Wednesday.

The boy was a passenger in a 1993 Chevrolet van being driven by Harold Fetterman, 58, of Grand Haven, Ditmar said.

Fetterman was driving west on Robbins Road and ran the red light at 168th Avenue, Ditmar said. The van struck a vehicle traveling south on 168th Avenue. The force of the van striking the rear axle area of the 2012 International utility box truck caused the boy to be ejected through the passenger side window of the van.

The boy was not wearing a seat belt, Ditmar said.

The driver of the truck, 62-year-old Oliver Keener of Holland, was not injured, Ditmar said.

Fetterman was ticketed for the accident.
