Ottawa County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Todd, 34, took over as traffic enforcement officer on Feb. 16, filling the position after Deputy Matt Weldon was promoted to sergeant.

Todd has been a part-time firefighter in the township’s Fire/Rescue Department for nine years.

“It helps to know the area — you know where all the high-risk areas are,” he said.

Todd is a 1996 Grand Haven High School graduate. He received an associate's degree in law enforcement at Grand Rapids Community College, and graduated from its police academy program.

He and his wife, Anne, have lived in the township for 10 years. They have two children: Ellie, 5; and Mason, 3.
