Lt. Mark Bennett said the detective was driving south in an unmarked car on 120th Avenue, south of Fillmore Street in Olive Township, at around 1 p.m. when he noticed two suspicious men entering a home. Circling back, the detective witnessed the suspects carrying items out of the house and placing them into a vehicle.

The detective called for Sheriff's Department deputies, who arrived at the scene — the 5000 block of 120th Avenue — and took the two suspects into custody without incident, Bennett said.

The suspects, a 27-year-old Grand Rapids man and a 32-year-old Holland Township man, are expected to be arraigned today, Bennett said. Their names will not be released until after they are formally charged.

Several articles of stolen property were recovered from the suspects' vehicle, and Bennett said the Sheriff's Department has contacted other area law enforcement agencies to see if the suspects might have been involved in similar incidents in West Michigan.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Silent Observer at 1-877-88-SILENT.
