Benjamin Wiersum, 32, was traveling north on 148th Avenue south of State Road when the crash occurred shortly before 2:30 p.m., said Sgt. John Wolffis of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.

Witnesses reported that the motorcycle flipped over and the cyclist was ejected, he said.

Wiersum was the only person on the motorcycle and he was wearing a helmet, Wolffis said.

The victim was taken by ambulance to North Ottawa Community Hospital, and then later transferred to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids where he was in serious, but stable condition as of Sunday evening, Wolffis said.

No further information was available from hospital officials as of press time this morning.
