Muskegon restaurant owner found murdered

Police said the owner of a popular Mexican restaurant in the Muskegon area was killed.

Muskegon Heights Police Chief Lynne Gill said the victim, Alvaro Loera, was in his early 70s and owned the Flamingos II restaurant in Muskegon.

Loera was found beaten and stabbed inside his Muskegon Heights home. Loera's nephew, Joe Loera, said his uncle was found by a family member around 11 a.m. Friday.

No suspects have been identified.
