Muskegon teen arrested in Northwest Ottawa County crime spree

(UPDATED) A 19-year-old Muskegon woman has been arrested and a 19-year-old Nunica man is being sought in a weekend crime spree that targeted Northwest Ottawa County, said Lt. Mark Bennett of the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department.

The teens are suspected of stealing a car, as well as a number of larcenies from cars in the Hidden Oaks Trailer Park near Fruitport and the nearby Spring Lake Township area.

Deputies were first called at about 10:30 p.m. Friday to the mobile home park, located just east of Fruitport at 14787 Apple Drive, Bennett said. Witnesses reported seeing suspicious people entering cars within the park.

The suspects had left the area when police arrived, but officers determined that several items were missing from at least one vehicle.

Saturday morning, a car was reported stolen from the same mobile home park, Bennett said. The 1998 Buick LeSabre was located that afternoon, abandoned in the 10000 block of State Road where it had crashed into a tree.

Through their investigation, deputies were able to identify two suspects, and the 19-year-old, Jessica Goldsborough, “was later arrested on unrelated outstanding warrants and several felonies related to recent events,” Bennett said.

Articles found in the stolen vehicle linked the teenagers to earlier larceny-from-vehicle cases, he said.

Several hundred dollars worth of stolen property was recovered, along with the Buick, Bennett said.

“It appears as though the pair may be involved in several other larcenies from vehicle cases around that same general area of Spring Lake Township,” the detective said.

At least seven additional cases have been identified and are believed to be linked to these suspects, Bennett said. Anyone with information related to these cases is asked to call Silent Observer at 1-877-88 SILENT, or register a tip online at www.mosotips.com.
