Devin Francis said he was riding his bike on the sidewalk toward his home about 3:40 p.m. when a car came out of the parking lot at DeSpelder Place and struck the front wheel of his bicycle.

“I tried to swerve," Francis said. "It hit the front tire and I fell.”

The boy fell to the ground and banged up his knee.

Police and paramedics responded to the scene on DeSpelder Street, south of Elliott Street. The youth was checked by paramedics, but he was not taken to the hospital.
