Man dies after driving truck into house

A man died after a two-truck collision Friday afternoon in Coopersville. Sgt. Steve Austin of the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department said a possible medical condition suffered by the Coopersville man, 42-year-old Aaron Bouchard, likely caused the crash.

Bouchard was unresponsive at the scene and CPR was initiated, Austin said. Bouchard was taken by Life Ambulance to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital, Austin said.

Emergency personnel were called at 3:35 p.m. to a residential area on the north side of Coopersville after Bouchard’s flatbed farm truck sideswiped a smaller pickup truck, then went across the lawn and struck the front steps of a nearby house in the 300 block of Center Street.

Justin Mosher, 18, also of Coopersville, told police he had just pulled out of his driveway and was heading south on Center Street when he saw Bouchard’s truck start to drift across the road, Austin said. Mosher moved his vehicle over as far as he could, but was not able to avoid being struck. Mosher was not injured.

Coopersville-Polkton Fire/Rescue also responded to the scene.
