According to police, a group of people started a verbal altercation with the victim and refused to leave him alone, continuing to follow him.

“During this time, the victim told the suspect he didn’t want to fight,” Boyle said.

The suspect then shoved the victim and threw a punch at him, the victim told police.

“A physical altercation then ensued,” Boyle said.

The victim declined to press charges, but the Sparta man was ticketed for having open alcohol.

Boyle said the reason for the fight was unknown.
