The 26-year-old man called Ottawa County Central Dispatch on Wednesday night. He told them that he heard media reports about the rockets, and he was calling to say he was behind them.

Detectives from the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department said the man was cooperative. He told them he wasn't aware there were regulations covering the rockets.

The man's name was not released. The case will be sent to the Ottawa County Prosecutor's Office to determine if the man will face any charges.

The Sheriff's Department issued a media alert Wednesday that they were looking for the people responsible for launching at least two high-powered, homemade rockets in the Allendale area on June 3 and 9. Both of the rockets had parachutes that did not deploy.

There were no reported injuries.

Don't the police/prosecutor have something better to do with there time than to arrest and look at prosecuting an individual who turned himself in the minute he found out he was doing something illegal.

It appears you might have your own Rocket Boy -- find a place for him to improve his talents...
