Shortly after midnight Monday, Ottawa County deputies were called to a home in the 10000 block of Linden Drive in Tallmadge Township, where a 29-year-old woman told police she had been held against her will for more than an hour. She said the man threatened her with a knife and sexually assaulted her.

Deputies found the man at the scene and arrested him without incident, Lt. Mark Bennett of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department said. The victim was not injured by the knife, Bennett said.

The suspect was convicted of criminal sexual assault with a weapon in 2005, Bennett said. He was placed on parole in March.

The man is lodged in the Ottawa County Jail pending kidnapping and criminal sexual assault charges. The incident remains under investigation.

7 years for assault and rape with a deadly weapon. No wonder this " rehabilitated" person is at it again. Should be minimum 15 years for offenses like this. Let's hope his next sentence reflects the gravity of what he has done.

Really?...his next sentence?? Do you really think that length of sentence has anything whatsoever to do with rehabilitation?? This is obviously an extremely antisocial person, probably has been his whole life and now he's become another repeat offender. That in of itself should indicate to most people that rehabilitation is not a high priority item in the current prison system. The biggest surprise here is that it took him 6 months to repeat. Chances are he couldn't deal with life on the outside so he did again what worked for him last time. He'd probably be happy with your 15 year suggestion!

Lets really excite him with 30 years! May I suggest we remove the TV, computers, exercise equipment...For those that think warts like this can be rehabilitated, we must focus his attention, not send him to club freakin med!! Think about it, when your parents sent you to your room for punishment, did they let you do anything in there but sit and think about what you did wrong!

screw that. I dont want to pay for this POS to sit in prison for 15-30 years. With a bad economy and over populated prison, we need to hand out more death penalties instead of letting prisoners out. Lets face it...will this guy ever be able to function in public...No.

I'd say I have to agree with you there! Still we don't need to treat these warts to Club Med amenities when they are in prison. Eliminating that could save the tax payers tons of money as well.

This is an unfortunate situation.

UNFORTUNATE!!! If this was your loved one attacked, I think it would be categorized differently. Wow!

Well, aren't you just the master of understatment!
