Ex-Zeeland attorney pleads guilty to embezzlement

A former attorney from Zeeland pleaded guilty in federal court in Grand Rapids on Wednesday to embezzling more than $800,000 from trusts and trust accounts that he controlled for his clients.

Ken Hoesch, 59, now faces up to 23 years in prison.

According to court records, Hoesch stole the money from clients and trust beneficiaries between 2006 and 2010 while he specialized in trusts and estate law. According to the court, Hoesch also falsified his federal income tax returns in reporting his income.

The sentencing date for Hoesch has not yet been set.
