The Van Buren County Sheriff's Department said the mixed breed dogs found Wednesday in Paw Paw Township are part pit bull and their 33-year-old owner may face charges.
The department said the chains holding the dogs were caught around tree stumps, restricting the dogs' movement. Deputies said they found no water and a small amount of dry food nearby.
The dogs were taken from the home about 50 miles southwest of Grand Rapids to Van Buren County Animal Control. The prosecutor's office is expected to review the case.
