Gregg Busby, 60, pleaded guilty Aug. 28 to involuntary manslaughter in the Feb. 10 death of Antonio Garcia-Lazarski. Kent County Circuit Judge Dennis Leiber sentenced Busby on Thursday.
Busby said he gave Antonio a mixture of morphine and Benadryl in a cup of juice in order to calm the boy. Busby was living with the boy's grandmother at the time at her home in Kent County's Gaines Township.
The boy had a chronic inherited disease that affected his lungs and bones. Morphine was not one of his medications.
