The Kent Metro Cold Case Team announced Thursday that Alvon Davis, 22, faces second-degree murder, firearms and habitual offender charges in the shooting of 19-year-old Russell Griffin.
Griffin was shot as he walked up to his house on Grand Rapids' southeast side. Police said a witness told them that Griffin was returning from buying fast food when the shooter killed him.
Davis has been imprisoned at the Ionia Maximum Corrections Facility for second-degree criminal sexual conduct. He waived his preliminary examination Tuesday in Grand Rapids District Court and is being held in the Kent County Jail until his next court date.
