Hudsonville High School senior killed in crash

Patrick Michael Wiltse, 17, of Walker, was ejected from his 1992 Oldsmobile Delta 88 on impact in the 11:30 p.m. crash, said Sgt. Steve Austin of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department. The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wiltse was traveling east on VanBuren Street, about a half mile west of 48th Avenue, at a high rate of speed, Austin said. He lost control of his vehicle on the gravel road, went off the road and struck a large tree.

Austin said it was unknown whether or not alcohol was a factor in the crash. That would be determined through toxicology testing.

The crash is still under investigation.
