Muskegon man killed after driving off U.S. 31

The crash happened at about 3:30 p.m. near the Stony Lake Road overpass in Grant Township.

The Oceana County Sheriff's Department said Ronald William Witt, 63, was driving a 2005 Chevy Monte Carlo north on U.S. 31 when he drove off the road and hit a concrete bridge pier in the highway's median. What caused the crash is still unknown.

Witt was taken to Hackley Hospital's Lakeshore Campus, where he died.

Investigators said alcohol was not a factor and Witt was not wearing a seat belt.
