Crews from Coast Guard Station Grand Haven took advantage of an unseasonably warm December evening to conduct routine training Tuesday on the Grand River and Spring Lake.

Petty Officer Greg Mattson said crews spent a couple of hours doing basic training required “so everybody can be prepared for the real thing.”

“Nobody was in the water,” Mattson said. “It was not a search and rescue.”

The petty officer said crews practiced maneuvering in the dark, going from boat to boat and conducting towing operations.

They completed training about 9 p.m.
