A Holland woman is hospitalized after a wrong-way crash early this morning on M-45 near 48th Avenue.

The 42-year-old woman, whom police declined to name at this time, was driving east in the westbound lanes of the divided highway, said Sgt. Greg Rotman of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.

Police were dispatched at 2:25 a.m. on the wrong-way driver, Rotman said. While enroute, officers were informed that the woman had sideswiped a westbound pickup truck with her 2010 Pontiac Vibe.

The driver of the truck, Daniel Gibson, 29, of Allendale, was not injured.

The Holland woman was taken by ambulance to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital. She suffered head and back injuries, but was in good condition, Rotman said.

Alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash, he said.

The crash is still under investigation.
