Norton Shores Police said they received a call at 4:52 p.m. on Friday when a resident reported he had just surprised two burglars in his East Farr Road home.

He was able to apprehend and detain one of the men. The second suspect fled the home on foot, but was later apprehended on Grand Haven Road by Officer Thomas Sabo, police said.

The suspects had stolen a watch and medical marijuana. They attempted to steal a safe, but abandoned it when surprised by the homeowner, police said.

Their names are not being released pending arraignment.
