The incident happened around 2 a.m. today in Holland Township. Deputies were acting on a report of three men who had taken a large amount of alcohol from the Meijer store on West Shore Drive.
The deputies spotted the suspects' vehicle on Riley Street near 120th Avenue and pulled it over. After asking the men to get out of the car, one officer spotted a handgun in the waistband of a suspect's pants. Deputies tried to detain the man and secure the weapon, but the man fought back.
One officer was injured in the struggle. He was treated at the scene and released.
Other officers were able to subdue the suspect and secure his Magnum revolver.
The other suspects surrendered to police without incident.
Officers are not naming the suspects until they appear in court. Detectives said charges would include retail fraud, resisting arrest, possession of a firearm and felony firearm, and cocaine possession.

Here's another one for gun control go ahead DYankee
Psmith- Has nothing to do with gun control. Gun control laws have no association with criminal activies. Gun control has simply NEVER applied to those who are criminals or have intentions of commiting crimes.
With 300 million "known" firearms in the United States, initiating any form of gun control at this point, is very much like closing the barn door after the animals have left; it simply will do no good.
Great job by Ottawa County's finest... Keep up the great work... hopefully they got a good ole fashion ... whooping...
Hey Psmith, how many laws did these punks break...do ya think stricter gun control laws will make any difference. I'll be willing to bet these punks have a rap sheets longer than their school records. We need WAY more control in this country on the issues that allow punks to get to this criminal state. Not enough time or space here to discuss all of that!
Sounds like we need people control instead.
