Robbers target Lions Club poker charity event

(UPDATE: 12:45 p.m. Friday) An undisclosed amount of money was taken when armed robbers disrupted a charity poker event early this morning at Bob Hi Lanes, police said.

Two suspects entered the bowling alley, 2930 S. Getty, shortly after 1 a.m. and demanded money from representatives of the White Cloud Lions Club, who were hosting the event, police said.

One of the suspects implied he had a weapon, but none was seen, police said. That suspect was described as a Hispanic male with a stocky build, short, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and a red bandana over his face.

The second suspect was a light-skinned black or Hispanic male, tall and skinny, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and a blue bandana over his face. He was armed with a handgun, police said.

Officers from Norton Shores and Muskegon Heights apprehended the first suspect. He was lodged in the Muskegon County Jail pending arraignment on armed robbery charges.

The second suspect was apprehended in Muskegon Heights late this morning after officer received a tip.
