Kendra Sue Huyser, 21, was driving west on I-96 near Eighth Avenue at about 2:37 a.m. when she lost control of her vehicle, said Sgt. Matt Wildfong of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.

A witness said Huyser passed him at a high rate of speed and lost control of her car. The car started to go into the median, but she was able to correct enough to get back on the road, Wildfong said. Huyser’s car then went off the road to the right and into a ditch, and rolled over several times.

When deputies arrived, they found her lying on the ground near her car.

Wright Township firefighters used an infrared camera to search for other possible victims, but none were found, Wildfong said.

Huyser was taken by ambulance to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. She was listed in serious condition this morning, a hospital spokesperson said.

Wildfong said alcohol did appear to be a factor in the crash.
