Snowstorm crash claims life of woman, 42

A winter storm that dumped up to 14 inches of snow on parts of Michigan's Lower Peninsula has claimed at least one life.

A 42-year-old woman was killed when the vehicle in which she was a passenger spun out of control and struck a tree. Police in Barry County's Prairievile Township said the crash happened about 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said a 36-year-old man was driving when he lost control on the snowy road. They said the woman was pinned inside the vehicle and died at the scene.

Police said the man sustained minor injuries and was arrested on a charge of driving on suspended license causing death.

The names of the man and woman weren't immediately released.
