It happened early Saturday at Felix's Gun Shop, located in the 14000 block of Green Street. Investigators said the suspects took handguns and long guns from the store.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Silent Observer at 877-88-SILENT.

On Thursday, someone also stole guns out of two homes in Holland. Police said the break-ins happened in the same neighborhood. One handgun was taken from a home in the 900 block of Columbia Avenue, and three handguns were stolen from a home in the 200 block of East 35th Street.

It's unclear if any of the crimes are related.

I do not agree people that commit the crime do not care about gun laws they will just be shipped here from places like Mexico WHERE were the Police at the time of the robbery did we have enough Police on the road that night

This shop has been in business for 81 years, a father-son family business. It has been robbed 3 times in the last 4 years. Gangbangers were caught after one robbery, and the only adult was given a 6 month sentence. The owner is owed $45,000 in restitution that he will never see. Although clearly none of the commenters have supported this business, I find it telling that they all seem to know what security he has, how to run his business, and blame him rather than the scum sucking pigs that broke into his store and stole from his livelihood.

I guess one commenter knows more about insurance than I do - in my experience, it is harder and more expensive to get insurance if you have made claims against your policy - how does anyone know how much he has to pay for insurance, and whether he has complied with insurance requirements regarding security?

Go ahead and feel good about yourselves for blaming the victim and celebrating the loss of another small business thanks to the felons who are seemingly blameless. As long as you can blather about guns, I guess that makes it copacetic.

thank you :-)

Wingmaster

Thanks for bring some facts to the blather Vlad. I find it hard to believe that many here are not concerned there are criminals that are breaking into a business. Then they take it a step further and blame the business owner....wtf!! Typical left nonsense to take an issue and turn it into taking a law abiding citizens rights away or fine him.

Felix should be able to sue the Gubmint for demonstrating how to get guns into the wrong hands right! These warts obviously followed their lead.

Not about blame, it IS about responsibility as a gun dealer/owner. He takes none, and you impart none on him as gun owners. Shame on you all.

Dear robinsonmom, you must be some kind of special stupid

robinsonmom

Not as stupid as the ones supporting this business, such as yourself. When you or a loved one is shot by one of these guns I expect nothing more than to see you raising hell with the legal system or sueing Felix's for restitution. Your ignorance and rude comment show that people such as yourself are the ones that give gun owners and supporters of our rights a bad name. Well done.

sirhansalot

Robinsonmom you have nothing to fear but fear its self, You sound like you might be better off in trying to live in this world.

robinsonmom

First it is "nothing to fear but fear itself". Second, your entire second sentence made no sense at all. I am not on here to respond to someone who is just trying to belittle someone who speaks their opinion on important topics, which directly contribute to the safety within my community. If you have a point to make I am here to listen. Otherwise, don't bother replying.

If a criminal shoots anyone in my family the LAST THING on my mind is what establishment the gun was stolen from since the crime stops with the person who pulled the trigger. I would hold that person solely responsible for their own actions. What kind of person has a family member shot and thinks.. gee I wonder what establishment the criminal stole his weapon from and how much do you think I can sue that business for? That speaks volumes you know!

OakleaStore

Stand your ground.... Year one they teach you "Social responsibility" We care.... y'all should too!!!

markie54

I hope and pray that someone stops someone like the thieves, with a LEAGAL gun purchased from this LONG TIME Tax Paying BuISNESS MAN

Psmith

I just want to know this where while the place was being broke in to was the Police that we have so many of during the day handing out tickets...

just putting it out there

if the security was put in by OCS where were they?????

markie54

Yes, you would think for all the taxes these hollander's steal, a cop would have been right outside camped on the door step.

Walking Alive

Do us all a favor and move to where there are more pollocks like yourself.

markie54

Dear Walking Alive, It's hard to havea battle of witts with some one who is totaly unarmed

Walking Alive

That's true markie54, being so 'armed' you already shot yourself in the mouth with the hollander remark (as in- just shot off your ignorant mouth). lol I do think you should move somewhere you could appreciate and fit in with the population's roots more, like Muskegon Heights maybe. Because I don't see any "witt" (sp) from you, nor any answers to the real problem here.

from Wikipedia- Wit is a form of intelligent humour, the ability to say or write things that are clever and usually funny.[1] A wit is a person skilled at making clever and funny remarks.[2] Forms of wit include the quip and repartee

Here's a thought for those of you who want to assign blame to the business owner that had a crime committed against him. How about finding the parents accountable and responsible for raising criminals!!!

newsblogger

:-) how about holding GM responsible for any automobile accident involving cars sold at their dealerships? How about holding Anheiser Busch responsible for every drunk driving accident?

Kudos to you robinsonmom for holding your own amongst this mostly motley crew. Felix should do some soul searching and stop selling guns all on his own. Perhaps he will, but I don't count on it. Profit motive is very strong and the fact that his guns are going directly into criminals hands is just a blip to him, apparently. I doubt that all the taxes his business as ever paid will make up for the tax monies used to chase down and clean up after the criminal activities brought about by the theft of his guns, not to mention the misery wrought by such armed criminals, where no money will bring about healing.

I hereby, propose that Bridge Cards are allowed to be used in the purchase of all firearms. That way, we will have an immediate data base of individuals already fleecing our great State and reduce the tax monies to find these criminals stealing from Felix because they will surely be listed in this data base fun house. There's more! Now we will have tax payer monies that JulyAugustSeptember and Robinson emom our so admarably concerned, being productively utilize to PURCHASE these guns from Felix instead of stealing them from him. Felix won't feel like a hanging chair on Comstock Dr. anymore and we can save even more tax payer funding by not have a meeting next Tuesday night with the Lakeshore Ethnic Diversity Alliance that is surely hurrying to Felix' defense.

It is Comstock Street, not drive.

4/19/11 our store was robbed with a 44. mag. A loaded cocked hammer was pointed at the clerk as the intruder demanded money. We do not know if the gun was stolen or belonged to a law abiding citizen. The fate of the clerk was not determined by that of machinery but by that of a human. The trigger was pulled but not inside the building, fired to clear the chamber as they sped off. Those assailants were apprehended and are currently housed at a MI correctional facility. These criminals lacked education and clear path to a productive life. We do not need our gun rights taken away but at the same time the negligence that felix's has shown is turning the wheels at Oaklea. These stolen guns are not going to law abiding citizens but to last chance, mentally ill, impulsive criminals. Enough is enough and Robinson Twp. residents should voice their opinions in person @ felix's to ensure he is doing whats is required to ensure a good night sleep for all of us. The OC sheriff dept does what they can and has done their job to the best of their ability. I thank the lord every day I still have my father today...

We really need to drain Lake Michigan, people keep drowning out there. It is really not a responsible thing for the state to do by keeping that thing full off water. The water is going to entice another person to act in neglect in a boat, jet ski, pier jumper....The Coast Guard has done a great job and do it to the best of their ability.

Maybe we should be focusing on the real problem that you touched on....lack of education and clear path to a productive life for these warts who have COMMITTED the crime. Felix did not commit the crime here, he is the victim for crying out load. Should we close stores that continue to get held up?

CheesePizza

OH I GET IT!!! You are comparing the lake to a store that has lots of firearms that continually gets broken into and keeps putting guns into hands of people who lawfully cant get them. You are funny.

Wingmaster

So is the crazy discussion making the business owner the problem of a crime that was committed against him! Absurdity to point out the absurd

Walking Alive

If you had your guns sitting out on your table (which I doubt you would), and someone broke in and stole them while you were out, would you feel any responsibility for allowing those guns into the hands of criminals? I do blame the thieves, and I am sure they make their parents proud. However, to put on blinders to the continued feeding of guns to criminals in our own community without so much as securing the place, is not helping anything at all. Being a gun dealership should have it's own laws and consequences, no?

snlfan

Yes I would because I did not keep them secure, do this enough times and you loose your right to have them. Talking this over with a gun lover at lunch today we brainstormed ideas. Make a national registary of not only gun serial numbers but, also the rifeling marks left on bullets from the barrel. Track guns from the orginal dealer, through brokers (no more one on one or trade show ie no background check sales). Create laws that if you're "stolen" gun is used in a crime and you have not reported it, get some teeth to the law against the owner. I don't care if you want to sport shoot, hunt, or just need to feel like a big man with a big gun (compensating for something), but we as a society have got to secure these weapons.

Wingmaster

So if someone steals a car from a driveway because the keys were left in it, and the criminal drives off, gets in a chase and crashes the car into someone and kills them, is the car owners responsible? I just can't follow the logic of making the victim the one responsible here?

Your solution of registering rifeling marks will not work for more reasons then I do not have enough time to explain here.... A law if you don't report your guns stolen!!!Now who wouldn't report a personal possesion stolen unless it was already a stolen!! Come on think this thru we don't need more laws, just enforce and stiffen the penalties we already have.
