The boy's mother was driving in Kent County's Nelson Township at about 1 p.m. Monday when she lost control in slush on the road's shoulder. Their vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. The boy is expected to survive.
Theodore Heath, 21, was killed in a two-vehicle accident Sunday night in Barry County. That crash was blamed on ice.
Many school districts across the state canceled classes Monday.
Temperatures are expected to rise well above freezing today before cold air returns Wednesday.
