Nicole Walters suffered multiple injuries and was in fair condition after the two-car crash, said Sgt. John Wolffis of the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department.

Walters was driving her 2005 Chevy Trailblazer east on James Street at about 7:25 a.m. when she was struck by a pickup truck.

Michael VanDyke, 49, of Holland Township, was driving his 2000 Chevy pickup truck south on U.S. 31, and, according to witnesses, failed to stop for a red light, before striking Walter's car, Wolffis said.

The vehicles collided in the southbound lanes, then came to rest in the northbound lanes.  Walters was pinned inside her vehicle.

Traffic had to be diverted in the area for about an hour.

Wolffis said alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash.

It is still under investigation.
