A man in his early 40s suffered a heart attack Thursday and died while shoveling snow from a driveway in Hudsonville. Paramedics weren't able to revive him.

A Waterford Township man suffered a heart attack at about 9 a.m. Friday while clearing his driveway. He later died at a local hospital.

Hospitals in the Grand Rapids area reported patients with fractures and head injuries after falls on ice. Others suffered back injuries while using snow blowers.

The storm dumped up to 14 inches of wet snow to parts of Michigan's Lower Peninsula Thursday and early Friday, creating hazardous driving conditions and prompting hundreds of school closings.
