An assistant county prosecutor said Ryan Wyngarden killed his sister and her husband in 1987 because Wyngarden didn't want anyone to know he had sexual relations with his sister when she was a teenager. The prosecutor said Wyngarden was also jealous of his sister's husband.

The preliminary hearing for the Zeeland man began Wednesday and concluded late Thursday afternoon. Several witnesses took the stand, including an inmate who said Wyngarden told him he had killed Rick and Gail Brink in November 1987.

Wyngarden was arrested last month after his wife told a cold case investigative team that her husband admitted to the murders.

On Wednesday, Rick Brink's mother testified she discovered her daughter-in-law's body inside the couple's Park Township home. She went there when her son failed to report to work.

Don Heeringa, Rick Brink's boss at the time at Trendway Corp., also went to the home. He testified he found Rick Brink dead in a vehicle in the driveway.

A medical examiner testified both Brinks had been shot in the head.
