Lavern Stephen Filipunas, 32, of Kalamazoo has been ordered to stand trial in Kent County Circuit Court on charges of impersonating an officer and extortion. He was booked last month and freed after posting bond.
Defense lawyer Lesley Kranenberg said Filipunas never directly said he was a police officer.
Authorities said the women accepted an online offer to have sex with a man for $300, but Filipunas flashed a security guard badge after they arrived at a motel in Wyoming. Court records said Filipunas wanted to get a discount and didn't pay the women.
