The Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning is coordinating the effort that began this week.
The enforcement period includes St. Patrick's Day, the NCAA men's and women's basketball tournaments, and high school and college spring breaks.
Law enforcement officers from agencies in Ottawa, Muskegon, Allegan, Berrien, Calhoun, Chippewa, Delta, Eaton, Genesee, Grand Traverse, Houghton, Ingham, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Kent, Livingston and Macomb counties are involved. Other counties with agencies taking part include Marquette, Monroe, Oakland, Ogemaw, Saginaw, St. Clair, Van Buren, Washtenaw and Wayne.
