Joan Baumann was driving west on Fillmore Street at about 3:15 p.m. when she attempted to go around a westbound semitrailer that was turning north onto 68th Avenue, said Sgt. Dean DeVries of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.

Baumann’s vehicle went over the center line and was struck by a vehicle driven by Kayla Kempenaar, DeVries said. Kempenaar was southbound on 68th Avenue, attempting to turn east onto Fillmore.

Kempenaar was not injured, police said.

Baumann’s vehicle rolled across traffic before coming to rest on its side. She was pinned in her vehicle and had to be extricated by Allendale Township firefighters.

Baumann was taken by ambulance to Holland Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, DeVries said.
