Emergency workers responded before the lunchtime rush to a car crash on U.S. 31 just north of VanWagoner Road in Ottawa County.

The driver, who's from Muskegon, was driving south on U.S. 31,  hit the median guardrail and ended up in the northbound lane.

Traffic was moving, but slowed to one lane at times as emergency personnel cared for the car's occupant. She was taken by ambulance with minor injuries to Mercy Hospital in Muskegon.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened as Joyce Bechberger, 43, slowed to make an illegal turn in the crossover lane to head northbound. She lost control on the wet pavement and struck the guardrail, police said.
