Lavern Stephen Filipunas, 32, of Kalamazoo has pleaded no contest to impersonating an officer and extortion. An agreement with prosecutors calls for up to a year in jail. Sentencing is June 6.

Filipunas' lawyer has said Filipunas never directly said he was an officer.

Authorities said the women accepted an online offer arranged via Backpage.com to have sex with a man for $300, but Filipunas flashed a security guard badge at a motel in Wyoming, near Grand Rapids. Court records said Filipunas wanted to get a discount and didn't pay the women.
