Muskegon Heights Police Chief Lynne Gill said the 21-year-old man suffered the gunshot wound Thursday night and was taken to a local hospital.
According to Gill, the victim was gathering with a group of people around 9:30 p.m. when a vehicle slowed down, gunfire was heard and the victim felt "a sting." The man realized he had been shot in the genitals and inner thigh.
Gill said the situation "is a tit-for-tat thing that's going on," and that "these guys are shooting at each other."
The case remains under investigation.
