The brush fires along the railroad tracks near Marne tied up several area fire departments.

The railway's manager, Jerry Ricard, said he believes oil from the train may have helped spark the fires.

The Coopersville & Marne Railway pulls antique train cars on tourist excursions behind a 1950s-era diesel locomotive.

Authorities said a half-dozen or more small fires were reported between 7:20 and 8 p.m. No injuries were reported.
