Man killed in 2-vehicle crash near Montague

A man was killed Thursday when he drove through a stop sign and his car was T-boned by a minivan in northern Muskegon County.

The crash happened at about 2:45 p.m. at the intersection of Whitbeck and Fruitvale roads in Montague Township.

According to Muskegon County deputies, the man's car flipped twice after the collision and ended up in a nearby field.

The driver, a man in his 20s, was killed instantly in the crash, police said. A passenger in his car suffered injuries and was taken to a Muskegon County hospital for evaluation.

The driver of the minivan was not injured.

Deputies did not immediately release the names of the people involved in the crash.
