The jury took almost two-and-a-half hours to convict Davanh “Dat” Phouangphet of first degree premeditated murder in the death of Thanh “Kim” Le in January 2012.
He will be sentenced at 10 a.m. May 28.
Phouangphet did not testify. Robert Hamilton, his defense attorney, called no witnesses. Hamilton argued the attack was not premeditated.
The four-day trial featured graphic testimony and photos of the 53-year-old woman who died from severe burns over more than 55 percent of her body six days after the attack.
