Police respond to pier on 911 hang-up call

Officers from the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety responded to the fog-shrouded South Pier early Tuesday afternoon when Central Dispatch received a 911 hang-up call from the emergency call box.

Police said they found nobody in trouble.

They also did not find the person responsible for pushing the button on the phone.

The emergency phone, located part-way out the south pier, dials directly into Central Dispatch when the button is pushed.

Cameras also pan the pier, but were not usable because of the heavy fog.
