“Body found in Lake Macatawa today does not match the description of Jessica Heeringa,” he tweeted on Monday.

An autopsy is being conducted today on the body observed floating about 2:30 p.m. Monday by a jet skier traveling through the area, said Lt. Steve Kempker of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.

Police recovered the body in the lake straight south of where Dyken Avenue dead-ends into the lake.

Kempker said police hoped to have a positive identification today, but that it might come down to using dental records.

Officials could not determine whether or not the body was a man or a woman.
