Timothy Miller and Maceo Scott have been sentenced Thursday in Kent County Circuit Court for the stabbing death of Santiago Zapata Jr.

The 50-year-old Zapata was found slain Sept. 25, 2012, in the basement of his Grand Rapids home.

Separate juries convicted Miller and Scott in April of murder and armed robbery. Authorities have said Miller and Scott each blamed the other for Zapata's death.

Zapata was a 19-year employee with GVSU's education college.

I would have preferred we dig a hole, shoot them, push them into the hole, cover up the hole and not pay for prison for the rest of their lives.
