Business owners have reported more than 30 cases involving more than $25,000 in damage and loss since the first of May, said Lt. Mark Bennett of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.

Hit Friday morning were Peppinos in the 900 block of Butternut, and Jimmie Johns and Quiznos in the U.S. 31 and Riley area, Bennett said.

Suspects are smashing front windows to gain entrance in the early morning hours. They are taking petty cash and small safes, Bennett said.

Anyone with information on the break-ins is asked to call Silent Observer at 1-877-88 SILENT, or leave a tip online at www.mosotips.com.
